Elster's line of electronic and electomechanical single phase meters give you a choice of cost-effective meters for measuring kilowatt-hour energy usage. With the communication options and support software available for single phase meters, these meters can be easily incorporated into automated meter reading systems. Elster's REX® meter is an electronic meter designed for residential metering. With two-way communications, it offers demand, TOU, load profile recording, bidirectional metering, and critical tier pricing (CTP) capabilities in addition to kWh consumption measurement. The REX meter has on-board two-way radio frequency (RF) communications that permit the meter to respond to requests over an unlicensed 900 MHz local area network (LAN). REX meters deployed on the EnergyAxis® System act as repeaters and are self-registering. Elster is committed to supporting utility initiatives in energy conservation. Through its open architecture, Elster's EnergyAxis System is able to integrate with third party electric load control devices, demand-side management devices, in-home displays, and pre-payment services. For residential meters, an optional internal service control switch can remotely disconnect and reconnect electricity service. The capability of the EnergyAxis communications network enables sophisticated billing and systems data collection, automated account management, and provides alerts for different events (such as outages, tamper indicators, and other system anomalies).
